Privacy as a priority: a key learning from Futurum Nobis' Sustainable Web Design review
When Futurum Nobis and FRA begun the Sustainable Web Design review of Futurum Nobis’ website, both partners were aware that the audit would encompass multiple dimensions, including environmental, social and governance considerations.
But where to start?
Futurum Nobis itself was the answer.
Through FRA's Responsible Web Design Compass - a structured discovery process that maps internal and external factors shaping a website's design decisions - we built a clear picture of Futurum Nobis' goals, stakeholders, and values its digital presence should reflect.
From that process, four relevant Sustainable Web Design areas emerged, with privacy as the first stop of the journey.
If you are a business with a digital presence, privacy might sound familiar. Just like some uncomfortable questions it raises:
Which legal requirements are actually relevant for my business?
Are cookie banner and policy templates good enough?
What happens to data when third parties operate behind the scenes? Am I still responsible for it?
A client complained about not giving consent to my emails. What can I do now?
Digital tools make work easier, but they also introduce complexity that is often invisible until something goes wrong.
And behind every online interaction is an exchange of trust that most people, on both sides, are often only partly aware of.
That is why the Sustainable Web Design review is helping Futurum Nobis better understand how data flows through the website, where privacy-related questions arise, and why social organisations often need clearer, more accessible guidance on these issues.
By bringing the hidden layers to the surface, the Sustainable Web Design audit is helping Futurum Nobis Foundation make more informed choices about its digital presence, and better understand which responsible digital practices can be adopted.
A step that any organisation can take.
